Dr. Syed Amir Ali serves as President & CEO of Meezan Bank, Pakistan’s largest Islamic bank, with extensive expertise in Islamic banking, corporate and investment banking, institutional leadership and financial transformation. He is on the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Banks Association and the boards of Al Meezan Investment and Meezan Exchange, advancing Islamic finance governance.
He joined Meezan Bank in 2006 and held senior roles, including Head of Corporate & Investment Banking. As President & CEO of Bank Islami Pakistan (2018–2023), he transformed strategy, operations and performance, increasing profitability nearly 50-fold.
He worked at A. F. Ferguson & Co. (a PwC member firm), Pakistan Refinery Limited and Shell. A Harvard Business School alumnus, CFA Charterholder and Chartered Accountant (Gold Medalist), he also holds a PhD, MBA (Gold Medalist), LLB and Certificate in Software Engineering, reflecting his interest in technology, digital transformation and financial innovation.
