Ahsan Zafar Syed is President and CEO of Engro Corporation, a conglomerate spanning fertilizers, energy, telecom infrastructure, international trading, and more.
Ahsan joined Engro as an engineer in 1991. He played a key role in Engro’s expansion story, driving the US$1.1 billion fertilizer expansion and the US$2 billion Thar project, which unlocked indigenous coal to power a 660MW mine-mouth plant. He has served as CEO of both Engro Energy and Engro Fertilizers, alongside various roles across his 35 year career.
As President of Engro Corporation, he has sharpened its portfolio, re-integrating thermal energy assets, strengthening operations across fertilizers, polymers and terminals, and completing major transactions, including the Deodar deal. It has also been consistently recognized as the PSX’s top company.
He is an alumnus of NED Karachi and Manhattan College, USA. He has also attended advanced courses at INSEAD.
