The EMCEE for the event was Mahnoor Qureshi, Media and Outreach Professional. The event began with Welcome Remarks by Syed Ali Akbar , OICCI Vice President and Chairman D&I Sub committee, Managing Director & CEO Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited, followed by Rabia Kuli Khan Khattak, Head of DEI at Jazz, who set the stage for the discussions. A key highlight was the Panel Discussion titled "Trailblazers of Inclusion – Empowering Entrepreneurs with Disabilities". The panel featured an inspiring group of entrepreneurs with disabilities who shared their journeys and the challenges they faced. The panelists included Aliza Munim Qazi, Artist and Founder of The World of Art (Private) Limited, Ali Tareen, Entrepreneur and Founder of Khaas Foodz, Syeda Alishba Amin-Ud-Din, Artist and Founder Alishba’s Art n Cafe and Alishba’s Art Studio, Sana Rauf, SHRM-SCP, Talent Acquisition and EVP Manager at Nestlé Pakistan, Habiba Sulman, EVP and Head of Learning and DEI at Faysal Bank Limited, Abdul Qadeer, Co-founder and COO, DeafTawk, and Sarah Hassan (Virtual), Senior Director HR at PepsiCo Pakistan.
They emphasized the importance of creating inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities in both the workplace and society. The panelists discussed how, despite skepticism and limited support, their unique perspectives, resilience, and creativity helped them succeed. They also stressed that people with disabilities often bring exceptional innovation and problem-solving skills that can surpass those of able-bodied individuals. The conversation reinforced the message that individuals with disabilities, when given the right opportunities, can excel in business, leadership, and innovation.
In addition to the panel, the conference saw the Launch of the OICCI D&I Handbook 2025, in collaboration with NOWPDP, presented by Fatima Jamil Khan, General Manager Programs at NOWPDP and Mehar Y., Head, Organization Development and Learning, D&I at Meezan Bank Limited. The handbook serves as a comprehensive guide for organizations to integrate disability inclusion into their practices, promoting accessible workspaces and inclusive policies that benefit both employees and businesses.
The Closing Remarks were delivered by M Abdul Aleem, Chief Executive/Secretary General of OICCI. He thanked attendees for their commitment to creating a more inclusive society and emphasized the importance of moving beyond intention to institutionalize disability inclusion.
Throughout the event, discussions on Accessible Workspaces, Developing Protection Policies, Inclusive Recruitment Strategies, and Growing PWD Talent provided actionable steps for organizations to build inclusive workplaces and promote the economic empowerment of people with disabilities.
