The Economic Chief of US Consulate General Karachi, Brian Bedsworth, held a virtual meeting with OICCI CE/Secretary General M. Abdul Aleem on January 26, 2022. He was joined by Ms Mahreen Kashif Ghayas, Economic Specialist. The purpose of the meeting was to get the Chamber’s outlook on the overall direction of the economy and the current business environment in Pakistan.

Brian Bedsworth sought OICCI’s views on several matters of business interest, which included members assessment and concerns relating to supplemental finance act, reforms with SBP, currency devaluation and inflation etc. M. Abdul Aleem gave an overview of the OICCI’s perspective on the current economic situation in the country. He also shared that OICCI members generally have optimistic view on the country’s business potential and emphasized on the need to improve the international image of the country. Ideas and comments on climate change and other areas of mutual interest were also exchanged.

Brian Bedsworth thanked M Abdul Aleem for sharing the chamber’s viewpoint on the current business environment in Pakistan. He also expressed his desire to continue working together on areas of mutual interest.
