OICCI hosted a consultative session with a high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), on June 24, 2025, led by Ms. Emma Fan, Country Director and accompanied by Asad Aleem, Deputy Country Director, Nasruminallah MIAN, Senior Programs Officer, Shaheryar Ali Chaudhary, Senior Investment Officer, Maleeha Rizwan, Associate Operations Officer. OICCI member company representatives were also in attendance. The delegation was welcomed by OICCI Secretary General Mr. M Abdul Aleem, Executive Director Mr. Kashif Shafi, and Research Officer Ms. Javaria Shaikh Ismail.

The session commenced with a brief overview of OICCI presented by Mr. M Abdul Aleem. This was followed by an insightful presentation from ADB which shared their New Country Partnership Strategy for Pakistan. The presentation highlighted key opportunities in the Sindh region, particularly in agriculture, digital innovation, tourism, and renewable energy, along with pivotal challenges facing the region.

The strategy, currently under review, outlines four priority areas: energizing the private sector and optimizing the public sector, enabling humans, expanding connectivity and access, and fostering resilience. ADB discussed that their new strategy aims for long term economic growth in Pakistan.

The session concluded with an engaging discussion on Pakistan’s export potential across diverse sectors. OICCI highlighted the critical role of consistent, business-friendly policies and the need to broaden the country’s export base to include higher value-added and non-traditional sectors. The ADB expressed strong interest in deepening collaboration with OICCI as part of its strategic roadmap for Pakistan’s sustainable growth.
