The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Pakistan, Robert-Jan Siegert; First Secretary, Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Pakistan, Alexander Akerboom; Honorary Consul Karachi, Tarek Moinuddin Khan; and Economic Advisor, Yasir Farooqui visited OICCI for an introductory meeting on November 13, 2025.
The delegation was welcomed by OICCI Secretary General M Abdul Aleem, Executive Director Kashif Shafi, Corporate Communications Lead Humayoun Khan, and Communications Associate Fiza Fayaz. The meeting was also attended by member company representatives, Deputy Managing Director at FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan Limited Imran Husain and Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Manager at Unilever Ramlah Tariq.
The meeting began with a presentation by M. Abdul Aleem, who briefed the Ambassador on OICCI’s role as the representative body of over 200 leading foreign investors, the Chamber’s policy advocacy work, and the contribution of its members to Pakistan’s economy. M Abdul Aleem further outlined presence of Dutch companies in Pakistan, noting the significant role they play across various sectors. He also shared insights on Pakistan–Netherlands bilateral trade trends and opportunities for collaboration in agri-tech, renewable energy, textiles, healthcare innovation, and the digital economy.
Ambassador Siegert engaged in a detailed discussion on the operating environment for existing Dutch businesses in Pakistan, expressing interest in the investment climate and the FDI-specific segment of the presentation and appreciated the Chamber's comprehensive briefing.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on FDI, and the potential for enhanced business collaboration between the Netherlands and Pakistan.
