OICCI hosted a cybersecurity session on "Identity Threats: Key Concepts, Detection & Response", led by Abdul Khaliq, Country Software Leader at IBM, who was welcomed by Secretary General M Abdul Aleem, Executive Director Kashif Shafi, and Assistant Manager IT & Admin Syed Waqar Arif on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

The session focused on the risks of identity threats, emphasizing key areas such as identity lifecycle management, governance, monitoring, and privileged access management (PAM). A real-life incident was shared to demonstrate how identity misuse can impact businesses.

Discussions highlighted the critical need for robust identity management practices, particularly in sectors like banking. Participants discussed proactive measures and suggested implementing a "cooling-off" period for mobile apps on new devices and shared experiences of handling identity breaches.

It was noted that while both personal and corporate accounts were vulnerable, breaches affecting corporate accounts had greater consequences.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where members exchanged insights and solutions to strengthen their organizations against identity-related threats.
